Otologists (ear surgeons) manage a range of conditions affecting the hearing and balance of both children and adults. Issues related to the ear are many and varied, and can include congenital conditions, hearing loss, infections, cholesteatoma, traumatic injuries and tumours involving the ear.

Rhinology is a specialized branch of ENT surgery  focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders of the nose and paranasal sinuses. This field encompasses a broad range of conditions affecting nasal function, sinus health, and the anatomical and physiological aspects of the nasal passages. Rhinologists, are ENT surgeons who specialize in rhinology. They are  trained to address various nasal and sinus issues. These include structural issues that affect breathing such as enlarged turbinates, septal deviations and issues with the nasal bones and cartilages as well as disorders affecting sinonasal function including rhinitis, sinusitis and nasal polyposis and sinonasal tumours . Many rhinologists also perform lacrimal  surgery to unblock tear ducts.

Facial plastic surgery is the discipline of surgery focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and enhancement of the structures of the face, head and neck. This field encompasses both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures aimed at restoring function and enhancing the overall aesthetics of the face. Surgeons who specialise in facial plastic surgery come from both otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat) or plastic surgery backgrounds (just like “spine surgeons” come from neurosurgical or orthopaedic training, and similarly with “hand surgeons” coming from plastic or orthopaedic training).
