About the role: 

The Senior Staff Specialist/Staff Specialist (Otolaryngology) assists the Director of Surgery in ensuring that Otolaryngology Services provided by Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner. The position assists with the education and supervision of surgical trainees and other medical staff, medical students, allied health, interested community groups and nursing staff. 

About you: 

  • Mandatory qualification/s: MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. 
  • Possession of qualifications and experience appropriate for registration as a Specialist in Otolaryngology in Australia. In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in the speciality of Otolaryngology.

• A salary rate $210,332- $244,313 (L18 – L24) 

• A salary rate $251,527 - $266,677 (L25 – L27)

The Personal Injury Commission resolves disputes between people injured in motor accidents and workplaces in NSW, insurers, and employers.

Established by the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020, we are an independent statutory tribunal within the New South Wales justice system, committed to providing a transparent and independent dispute resolution service.

Resolving disputes justly and efficiently in the shortest time frame is a priority and we work with all parties (injured persons, insurers, and employers, where relevant) to discuss ways of achieving this.

Primary objective

Provide a specialist Ear, Nose and Throat service to include the care of both inpatient and ambulatory patients within the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of Royal Darwin Hospital, regional hospitals and remote communities. The position is for General ENT adult and paediatric disease management with an emphasis on Otology services to our local communities. Selection criteria

  1. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent if an International Medical Graduate (IMG). For those that do not have FRACS, then a successful assessment by the college will be required.
  2. Certificate of completion of higher surgical training in ENT if an IMG from their home country.
  3. Training, experience and expertise in providing specialist ENT services. A demonstrated special interest in Otology would be desirable for one of the positions.
  4. A period of higher surgical training (Fellowship) in Australia is desirable from IMG applicants.
  5. Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills at all levels, to interact positively in a cross-cultural work environment, as a team member.
  6. An interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health.
  7. Evidence of commitment to; continuing education, teaching, research and quality assurance activities.
  8. An ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures.
