  ASOHNS congratulates Professor Ray Sacks AO, who has been recognised in the King's Birthday 2026 Honours List. He has been awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to clinical training, to tertiary education and to governance roles. Congratulations!

  Congratulations to Dr Natalie Rainger on receiving the Service to the Community Award at the 2026 RACS NSW Surgeons' Evening. This award recognises Natalie's outstanding dedication and commitment to serving the Orange community, acknowledging her valuable contributions through her work. 

• Congratulations to Professor Kelvin Kong AM who will deliver the 2026 Wang Gungwu Lecture this evening

  Keynote speaker, Professor Kelvin Kong AM, a Worimi man of Malaysian-Chinese heritage is recognised as Australia's first Indigenous surgeon. He is a Paediatric & Adult Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Head & Neck Surgeon and leading advocate for health equity. 

  This annual lecture celebrates the substantial and longstanding contributions of Australia’s diverse Chinese communities to Australian life. 

  The lecture is named after the pre-eminent scholar on China and Chinese diaspora communities around the world, Professor Wang Gungwu AO CBE. He was Director of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the ANU from 1975 to 1980, President of the Australian Academy of Humanities from 1980 to 1983, Chair of the Australia-China Council from 1984 to 1986, Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong from 1986 to 1995, and is an ANU Professor Emeritus.  It is held in partnership with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

  The event is being held at the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra and will be recorded and broadcasted by the ABC.

  ASOHNS Federal Council, State Executives and members congratulate Associate Professor Bernard Lyons on becoming ASOHNS President.

• Congratulations to Dr Fiona Panizza on receiving the ESR Hughes Award

  This month ASOHNS President A/Prof Bernie Lyons represented ASOHNS at RACS ASC in Perth. ASOHNS congratulates Dr Fiona Panizza on receiving the ESR Hughes award for distinguished contributions to surgery by RACS Fellows. ASOHNS celebrates the Honorary Fellowships presented to Professor Dame Valerie Lund DBE and Professor David Howard, who have hosted many Australians OHNS Consultants on fellowship over the years.
