The University of Western Australia
The Core Skills: Workshop in Neck Dissection for Thyroid Carcinoma aims to increase the confidence and expertise of the participant when performing neck dissection.
This highly practical cadaveric workshop features concurrent full day Surgical Trainee level and Consultant/ Fellow level practical sessions in the steps and techniques of radical neck dissection for thyroid carcinoma. A Faculty member will mentor the dissection and provide expert, practical feedback to participants. Each session is tailored to provide participants with appropriate surgical training for their level of ability and skill set.
The workshop includes an interactive faculty panel discussion covering expert advice and alternative radical neck dissection techniques. The cadaveric models provide excellent anatomical realism and near normal tissue properties for repeated practise.
There will be two participants per Consultant/Fellow level cadaveric work station. Limited places are available for RMOs, Unaccredited Registrars and SET Trainees in General Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery. Surgical Trainee level cadaveric work stations are utilised by three participants per station. Limited places are also available for Theatre Nurses in the role of assistant.
