Positions Vacant

For some it’s the slow pace of life; for some it’s the quick access to Central Otago, the vineyards, the fishing, the skiing; for some it’s having an affordable life-style block but only being minutes from town; and for some it’s just a great place to bring up a family. What will your reason be to join us in Spring 2019?

As the newest member of our Surgical Services, you will join us as an experienced Consultant ENT Surgeon in Southland Hospital, which is one of the newest Hospital’s in the South Island of New Zealand, providing modern and easily accessible facilities for staff and patients alike. Southland Hospital is the base hospital for a wide geographical area, creating enormous scope for variety in the work of a talented professional like you. There’s no better place to take a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our ENT service, while taking the initiative in developing new ones.

This is a generalist position with an on-call responsibility, and sub-specialty interests can also be developed and supported. Whilst you will be the sole ENT practitioner on-site at Southland Hospital, there is the potential that we will have a second ENT surgeon join you, nevertheless, you will be supported by the clinical leader and colleagues from Dunedin Hospital. You will see the full range of patients in this role and perform a variety of procedures, such as endoscopic sinus surgery, middle ear surgery, facial skin cancer surgery and paediatric ENT procedures. All major head and neck surgery is currently carried out at Dunedin Hospital.

Located in the lower South Island, Southland offers a wide range of recreational activities. It is home to two of New Zealand’s national parks offering opportunities for tramping, internationally acclaimed fishing and a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Four ski fields are within easy driving distance. Recognised as an ideal place to raise a family, Invercargill is a modern city offering access to outstanding leisure pursuits and a caring, safe community. The city also has superb facilities, such as the brand new indoor velodrome and sporting complex, excellent schools and an enterprising, innovative tertiary education provider, where free fees exist. However you unwind, do it here.

You must have completed your specialist training to make you eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). An attractive remuneration package, relocation assistance and CME allowance. This role will start in September 2019.

Candidates who are not currently registered with the MCNZ should be aware it is the requirement of the MCNZ that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible, so as to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion. For more information please visit the MCNZ website www.mcnz.org.nz

Closing date: 10 January 2019.
