Australian and NZ Meetings

The 2018 Adelaide Tracheostomy Course will be conducted at Flinders Medical Centre and the Surgical and Imaging Facility, Gilles Plains, Adelaide on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 September.

The course faculty is led by Intensivists Dr Shailesh Bihari & Dr Andrew Holt, and ENT Consultants Associate Professor Eng Ooi and Dr Theo Athanasiadis. The supporting faculty is made up of very experienced and highly trained surgeons, intensivists, nursing and allied health professionals who are all experts in their field.

The course covers:

  • Technique of percutaneous and surgical tracheostomy, including airway management

  • Care of tracheostomy patients including management of complications

  • Role of the multidisciplinary team

  • Weaning and decannulation pathways

Course content:

  • Lectures

  • Hands on workshops

  • Animal dissections

  • Panel discussion

  • Human cadaver dissection

Course numbers are limited to:

  • Day 1: 50 medical / Allied Health / Nursing

  • Day 2: 15 Dissectors (9 Beginners, 6 Advanced)

RACS CPD Program:

This course has been approved in the RACS CPD Program. Fellows who participate can can claim one (1) point per hour in Maintenance of Knowledge and Skils
