Liverpool Hospital invites all Senior registrars and Fellows of Urology, General Surgery,

ENT and Gynaecology, as well as all surgical trainees, to attend a Robotic Surgery Training

weekend.


This Introductory 3 day course for trainees will be the first of its kind in Australia and New

Zealand and will be held from Friday 27th July to Sunday 29th July 2018 at Liverpool Hospital.


The course will include lectures, live surgical demonstration in urology, head and neck and

gynae-oncology, as well as the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the robotic

simulator (MIMIC) currently available at Liverpool Hospital.


The course will cover the following topics:


  • Functions and operation of the da Vinci® Surgical System
  • Ergonomics of the da Vinci® Surgical System robot and available robotic instrumentation.
  • Patient selection
  • Patient positioning, da Vinci surgical team position and robotic surgical approaches.
  • Technique of robotic intracorporeal suturing and knot tying.
  • Robotic tissue dissection techniques using monopolar and bipolar robotic surgery.
  • Robotic simulation training.


Live surgical cases will be performed over two days and will be telecast to the Conference hall.
